His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II

Born in Kamishly, Syria on May 3, 1965, the youngest son of Mr. & Mrs. Issa Karim, His Eminence Metropolitan Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim lost his father at an early age and was raised ,with the rest of his family, by his late and loving mother Khanema. He entered St. Ephrem’s Theological Seminary in Atchaneh, Lebanon in 1977, following his primary schooling in Kamishly. In 1982, His Eminence served the Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese of Aleppo, Syria, for the next two years. From 1984 to 1988, Archbishop Karim pursued higher studies at the Coptic Theological Seminary in Cairo, Egypt, graduating with a Bachelor Degree of Divinity.

In 1985, Metropolitan Karim took the vows of a monk, and put himself in the service of the Church. He was ordained to the diaconate in Egypt, and later the same year, to the sacred priesthood in Kamishly. From 1988 to 1989, Mor Cyril served as both, the secretary of His Holiness, Moran Mor Zakka I Iwas, Syrian Orhtodox Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, and as a teacher at St. Ephrem’s Theological Seminary in Damascus, Syria. In 1991, His Eminence entered St. Patrick’s College in Maynooth, Ireland, where he received a License of Sacred Theology Degree, in 1992, and his Doctor of Divinity Degree in 1994, following a defense of his doctoral thesis on The Symbolism of the cross in early Syriac Christianity. His Holiness Ignatius Zakka I Iwas (Patriarch) – Of Blessed Memory

His Holiness Ignatius Zakka I was born on April 21, 1933 into the faithful family of ‘Iwas’ in Mosul, Iraq. He joined the St. Ephrem Theological Seminary in Mosul in 1946 at the age of 13.

On November 28, 1948, young Zakka was ordained ‘Koroyoo’ (Deacon) by H. E. Mor Athanasius Touma Kasseer and on February 8, 1953, he was elevated to the rank of ‘Afodyaknoh’ (Half Deacon) by H.E. Mor Gregorios Paulos Behnam. On June 6, 1954 Mor Gregorios Paulos Behnam ordained him as Rabban (monk).

On November 17, 1963, Rabban Zakka was ordained Metropolitan by the Patriarch Mor Ya`qub III for the Mosul Archbishopric with title ‘Severious’. Thus he came to be known as Mor Severios Zakka. Learn More…


H.B Catholicos Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I

Catholicos Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas-I,the spiritual head of the Syrian Christians of India,was born in the Cheruvillil family of Vadayambadi, Puthenkuriz to Mathai and Kunjamma on 22nd July 1929.

His priestly formation was under the guidance of Mor Philoxenos Paulose (late Catholicos Mor Baselios Paulose-II) who ordained him ‘Korooyo’ in 1952 and ‘Shamshono’ at Kadamattom Church in 1957. In August 1958, C M Thomas was ordained ‘Kassisso’ (full priest) by Mor Yulius Elias at the Majanikkara Dayro. Learn More…





His Eminence Mor Tithus Yeldho Thirumani (Archbishop)

Born on 22 July 1970 to Pathickal P M Kuriakose and Sosamma, His Grace belongs to the Perumbavur Bethel Suloko Church in the Angamali diocese, India.

At the age of 12, on October 28, 1982, H.E. Mor Titus Yeldho was ordained deacon by Mor Athanasius Paulose.

On September 26, 1998 he was ordained Ramban by His Holiness the Patriarch and on September 5, 1999 ordained as Priest.

His Holiness the Patriarch of Antioch and all the East Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas ordained Very Rev. Ramban Yeldho Pathickal as the Archbishop and Patriarchal Vicar of the Malankara Archdiocese in North America at the St.Peter and St.Paul Cathedral in the Monastery of St.Aphrem the Syrian, at Ma’arrat Seydnaya, Damascus, Syria.
